The soprano
Sonia Theodoridou was born in Veria, Greece. She has studied at the Greek
National Conservatory “Manolis Kalomiris” in Mrs. Papalexopoulou class where
she was graduated with distinction as well as an “Excellent and Distinguished
Performance” award. She was awarded the “Maria Callas” scholarship which
enabled her to study at the Cologne Musical Academy and later on in London with
Vera Rosza. She also specialised in the German lieder repertoire with Elisabeth
Scharwarzkopf.
Sonia
Theodoridou has appeared in the most important lyric theatres of Europe
including Frankfurt Oper, Berlin Staatsoper unten den Linden, Deutsche Opera
Berlin, Staatsoper Hamburg, Münich National Theatre, National Theatre
Stuttgart, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie - Bruxelles, Théâtre Chatelet de Paris,
Teatro Communale di Firenze, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Theatre Basel, Opera
de Lyon, Opera de Montpellier, Festspiele Schwetzingen, Maifestspiele
Wiesbaden, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, New York, Salt Lake City, Salzburg, Opera

As a soloist
she has performed numerous concerts and song recitals in Cologne (Kölner
Philharmonie), Budapest Franz Liszt Academy, Italy (Reggio Emilia, Israel (Tel
Aviv Philharmonie), Lisbon (Colosseum), Tokyo, Frankfurt (Alte Oper), Munich
(Gasteig) and has collaborated with famous conductors like: Wolfgang
Sawallisch, Zubin Mehta, Sir Neville Mariner, Antonio Pappano, Rene Jacobs,
Christoph von Dohnanyi, Gerd Albrecht, Garry Bertini, Ivan Fischer, Marcello
Viotti, Helmut Rilling, Andras Schiff, Frans Bruggen with the Orchestra of the
Age of the Enlightenment, Concerto Köln, Vienna Philharmonie and others. Her classical repertoire includes
some of the most important opera roles as: Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte), Elvira
(Don Giovanni), Pamina (Zauberfloete), Alcina (Alcina), Violetta (La Traviata),
Gilda (Il Rigoletto), Angelica (Suor Angelica), Mimi (La Boheme), Euridice
(Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice), Salud (La vida breve), Fiorilla (Il Turco in
Italia), Corinna (Il viaggio a Reims), Giulietta (I Capuletti e i Montecchi),
Maria Stuarda (Maria Stuarda), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Jenny (Mahagonny),

σοπράνο Σόνια Θεοδωρίδου γεννήθηκε στην Βέροια. Σπούδασε τραγούδι στο Εθνικό

Vangelis
Petsalis was born in Corfu in 1965. He took his piano lessons in the
Conservatoire of the Philharmonic Society of Corfu. Since he was very young, he
had an increasing interest in composing and at the age of 12 he could perform
his own compositions among the advanced piano repertoire. He completed his
studies in orchestration & composition in Athens in the class of the
composer J. Papadatos. He has composed piano works, works for mixed choir &
for orchestra, as long as music for theatre. In 1996 the Italian record company
Arcadia/Agora published his first Symphony and other orchestral & piano
works in a CD with a worldwide distribution, with the participation of the
Symphony Orchestra of Bulgaria under the direction of A. Panayotopoulos.
The American
company of introduction and promotion of records Records International, one of
the greatest and most valid on Internet, referring to this CD, commented: This
young Greek composer writes lushly tuneful, colourful music in a vivid,
neo-romantic vein… A very personal voice and a very enjoyable disc.(RI
catalogue July 98).
He was also
commissioned to compose for the famous violinist Sergei Krylov and in 1997
S.Krylov and the Camerata under the direction of A. Myrat presented his
Concertino Narrativo for violin, piano and string orchestra in Megaron hall in
Athens. He also has recorded his works with the National Symphony Orchestra of
ERT under the direction of M. Logiadis.
In 2000 he was
ordered the composition of a piece for clarinet and strings by the Orchestra of
Colours. In March 2001, this certain piece, under the title Arguments for
clarinet and strings was presented at the Hellenic American Union with M
Logiadis conducting the above Orchestra and the world-wide awarded Spyros
Mourikis,as a clarinet soloist. In February 2003 the Greek State Orchestra of
Athens presented his work “Harp on the same Strings” in a concert organized by
the Union of Greek composers.
Many mass
media in Greece and abroad have made benevolent references to his
work(Eleftheros Typos Sunday Issue,Eleftherotypia,Kathimerini,Studio A,La
Cultura,L`Avvenire,Jazz&Jazz etc)and have broadcasted a wide range of his
production( Classical Discoveries,Radio Vaticana Musica,Public Radio Television
of Connecticut,Digital Broadcasting Channel DBC Swiss,Era3,Athens 9.84 etc)
.MP3.com`s Classical recommendations, referring at his Adagio for Strings No1,
wrote at their site’s homepage: “Emotional and melancholic, this adagio by
composer Vanghelis Petsalis will tug at your heartstrings like a Samuel Barber
or John Williams composition!”
Olympic
Airways of Greece have included in their Classical program his music and have
dedicated a special article on the composer in their issue which is given in
the flights to their customers.
In May 2003 he
was invited in U.S.A where he had an interview and presentation of his entire
work at Princeton’s University radio station WPRB in the program “Classical Discoveries”
by the prof.Marvin Rosen (28/5/2003) while at 31/5/2003 some of his preludes
where presented in a concert which Marvin Rosen gave at Bristol Chapel of
Westminster Conservatory of Music at Rider University N.J.
In January
2004 his Adagio for Strings No1 was performed in the Megaron Hall of
Thessalonica with Adrian Sunshine conducting the Greek State Orchestra of
Thessalonica in a world premiere with great success.
During the
season 2005-2006 the Modern Theatre of Athens Alkyonis presents the play “Dance
of Death” by Strindberg under the direction of G. Messalas and music by V.
Petsalis.
For this work,
theatre critic G.Georgousopoulos wrote: “…the talented composer Vangelis
Petsalis is a real apocalypse .He composed outstanding music for the play with
significant depth”( newspaper NEA 7/11/2005)
During summer
2006 he presented new Orchestral works at the Tinos Festival and in Athens (D.Plakentias Megaron ,Vouliagmeni lake) with the Symphony Orchestra of Bulgaria
under the direction of A. Panayotopoulos.
In July 2008
he recorded his 2nd Symphony with National Symphony Orchestra of Bulgarian
Radio under the direction of A. Panayotopoulos. The recording was sponsored by
Costopoulos foundation,Bodosakis foundation and National Hellenic Tourism
Organization.
In 1997 he
became member of the Union of Greek Composers.He was also appointed art
director of the European Department of Symphony Orchestra of Bulgaria.
He has also
studied medicine and he is a specialized doctor in Radiology.

Βαγγέλης Πετσάλης. Γεννήθηκε
στην Κέρκυρα το 1965.Σπούδασε πιάνο στην Παλαιά Φιλαρμονική Κερκύρας. Από
μικρός έδειξε ενδιαφέρον στην σύνθεση και από 12 ετών παρουσίαζε ως σολίστας
και δικά του έργα στο ρεπερτόριο της πιανιστικής φιλολογίας. Ολοκλήρωσε τις
μουσικές του σπουδές με ενoρχήστρωση & σύνθεση στην Αθήνα, στην τάξη του
συνθέτη Ι. Παπαδάτου. Έχει συνθέσει έργα για πιάνο, για μικτή χορωδία, για
ορχήστρα καθώς και μουσική για το θέατρο.
Το
1996 η Ιταλική εταιρεία δίσκων “ARCADIA/AGORA” εξέδωσε την πρώτη του Συμφωνία
καθώς και άλλα ορχηστρικά και πιανιστικά έργα τoυ σε ένα CD με την συμμετοχή
της Συμφωνικής Ορχήστρας της Βουλγαρίας, υπό την διεύθυνση του Α.
Παναγιωτόπουλου. Στο CD αυτό αναφερόμενη η Αμερικανική εταιρεία παρουσίασης και
διακίνησης δίσκων Records Ιnternational (από τις μεγαλύτερες και εγκυρότερες
του Internet) έγραψε μεταξύ άλλων ότι: «…ο νέος αυτός Έλληνας συνθέτης γράφει
μουσική με μία μεθυστική τονικότητα γεμάτη χρώματα, που ρέει μέσα σε μία
ζωντανότατη νεορομαντική φλέβα. Ένα πολύ προσωπικό ύφος και ένας απολαυστικός
δίσκος» (RI Catalog, July 1998).
Του
παραγγέλθηκε επίσης η σύνθεση ενός έργου για τον διάσημο βιολονίστα Sergei
Krylov.Συνέθεσε έτσι, το Concertino Narrativo για βιολί, πιάνο και Ορχήστρα
εγχόρδων το οποίο παρουσιάστηκε το 1997 στο Μέγαρο Αθηνών με σολίστ τον Sergei
Krilof (βιολί), την Stefania Mormone (πιάνο) και την συνοδεία της Καμεράτα υπό
την διεύθυνση του Α. Μυράτ. Έχει ακόμα ηχογραφήσει τα έργα του με την Συμφωνική
Ορχήστρα της ΕΡΤ υπό τη διεύθυνση του Μ. Λογιάδη. Το 2000 η Ορχήστρα των
χρωμάτων του παρήγγειλε την σύνθεση ενός έργου για κλαρινέτο και Ορχήστρα
εγχόρδων. Το έργο αυτό υπό τον τίτλο Arguments for clarinet and strings,
παρουσιάστηκε το Μάρτιο του 2001 στην Ελληνοαμερικανική Ένωση με την Ορχήστρα
αυτή, υπό την διεύθυνση του Μίλτου Λογιάδη και σολίστ τον πολυβραβευμένο Σπύρο
Μουρίκη. Το Φεβρουάριο του 2003,ολοκληρώνοντας τις συνεργασίες του με τις πιο
αξιόλογες Ελληνικές ορχήστρες, συνέθεσε το Harp on the same Strings για την
Κρατική Ορχήστρα Αθηνών, η οποία και το παρουσίασε σε συναυλία υπό την αιγίδα
της Ενώσεως Ελλήνων Συνθετών.
Πολλά
μέσα ενημέρωσης στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό έχουν αναφερθεί στο έργο του (Ελ.
Τύπος, Ελευθεροτυπία, Καθημερινή, Studio A, La Cultura, L Avvenire, Jazz &
Jazz κτλ) και έχουν μεταδώσει τα έργα του (Radio Vaticana Studio A, Public
Radio&Television of Connecticut,Digital Broadcasting Channel DBC Swiss,
EΡΑ3, Αθήνα 9.84), ενώ η ΜΡ3 διαθέτει προσωπική σελίδα γι αυτόν στην διεύθυνσή
της στο Internet (http://www.myspace.com/Petsalis) μέσω της οποίας χιλιάδες
χρήστες έχουν αγοράσει την μουσική του. Στο διεθνές αυτό site για την παγκόσμια
μουσική σκηνή, το έργο Αdagio for Strings No1 ήταν πρώτο για πολλές εβδομάδες
στα charts της κλασικής μουσικής ενώ στην κεντρική σελίδα της για την Κλασσική
Μουσική η MP3, αναφερόμενη στο Adagio for Strings No1,έγραψε: «Συναισθηματικό
και μελαγχολικό, αυτό το Adagio του συνθέτη Βαγγέλη Πετσάλη θα αγγίξει τις πιο
ευαίσθητες χορδές σας».
Το
Πανεπιστήμιο του Princeton των ΗΠΑ τον προσκάλεσε στην Νέα Υόρκη όπου τις
28/5/2003 του έκανε ένα εκτενές αφιέρωμα 2,5 ωρών στον μεγάλης εμβέλειας
ραδιοσταθμό του στην εκπομπή “Classical Discoveries” του καθηγητή Marvin Rosen,
ενώ τις 31/5/2003 στο Westminster Conservatory of Music of Rider University του
ιδίου Πανεπιστημίου έγινε συναυλία με τα Πρελούδια για πιάνο που
συμπεριλαμβάνονται στο CD της ARCADIA/AGORA.
Τις
23 Ιανουαρίου 2004 το Adagio No1 παρουσιάστηκε στο ελληνικό κοινό σε συναυλία
στο Μέγαρο Μουσικής Θεσσαλονίκης από την Κρατική Ορχήστρα Θεσσαλoνίκης, υπό την
διεύθυνση του Adrian Sunshine.
Την
θεατρική σεζόν 2005-2006,το Μοντέρνο Θέατρο Αθηνών Αλκυονίς ανέβασε το έργο του
Στρίντμπεργκ «Ο Χορός του Θανάτου» σε σκηνοθεσία Γ. Μεσσάλα και μουσική Βαγγέλη
Πετσάλη. Αναφερόμενος στο έργο αυτό, ο κριτικός Θεάτρου Κ. Γεωργουσόπουλος
έγραψε: «...ο ταλαντούχος μουσικός συνθέτης Βαγγέλης Πετσάλης πραγματική
αποκάλυψη. Έγραψε συνταρακτική θεατρική μουσική βάθους πεδίου» ( «ΤΑ ΝΕΑ»
7/11/2005).
Το
καλοκαίρι του 2006 παρουσίασε Ορχηστρικές συνθέσεις του στο Φεστιβάλ της Τήνου
και στην Αθήνα (Μέγαρο Δουκίσσης Πλακεντίας, Λίμνη Βουλιαγμένης ) με τη
Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα της Βουλγαρίας.
Τον
Νοέμβριο του 2008,η Εθνική Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα της Ραδιοφωνίας της Σόφιας
παρουσίασε σε πρώτη παγκόσμια εκτέλεση την Συμφωνία αρ.2 στην Sala Bulgaria
στην Σόφια,σε μία συναυλία που οργάνωσε το Ελληνικό Ίδρυμα Πολιτισμού επί τη
ευκαιρία των εγκαινίων του Βουλγαρικού Τμήματος του Ιδρύματος στην Σόφια. Την Ορχήστρα διεύθυνε ο Άλκης
Παναγιωτόπουλος και σολίστ στο πιάνο ήταν ο Παναγιώτης Γιαννακάκης.
Το
1997 έγινε μέλος της Ενώσεως Ελλήνων Μουσουργών.
Από
τον Οκτώβριο του 1999 και για δύο χρόνια διετέλεσε καλλιτεχνικός διευθυντής του
Ευρωπαϊκού τμήματος της Συμφωνικής Ορχήστρας της Βουλγαρίας.
Έχει
επίσης σπουδάσει Ιατρική και ειδικευτεί στην Ακτινοδιαγνωστική.
